CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, NY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2009 - The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce has announced the names of the organizations and individuals who will be honored at its Annual Awards Banquet to be held Thursday, October 8, 2009.

As in years past, awards will be presented for Person of the Year, Economic Development and Community Service. Person’s being honored this year were announced in a special insert section of today’s edition of the OBSERVER and The Post-Journal.

David Leathers, Jamestown Board of Public Utilities, will be honored as Person of the Year. This award is presented to a person who is recognized by the entire region for his or her outstanding achievements and contributions either within the past year or throughout their entire life and would be immediately recognized by the region as a leader. Their contribution can be through their efforts in business, community service, political leadership, charitable service or other areas of interest.

NRG Dunkirk Power, LLC will receive the Economic Development award. This award is presented to a chamber member company or organization that has contributed most to the economic development, quality of life and stability of the Chautauqua County region.

Six Community Service Award recipients will be recognized by the Community Chambers affiliated with the CCCC. Award recipients are:  James J. "Turk" Murphy, nominated by the Dunkirk Chamber of Commerce; Julius Leone JR, nominated by the Fredonia Chamber of Commerce; George Sission, nominated by the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce; 2009 Mayville I.C.E. Festival Ice Castle Construction Crew, nominated by the Mayville/Chautauqua Chamber of Commerce; Kurt Lindstrom, nominated by the Silver Creek/Irving Chamber of Commerce and Marilyn Hemmer nominated by the Westfield & Barcelona Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber’s Annual Awards Banquet will be held at Chautauqua Suites Meeting & Expo Center, Mayville. Live performances and cocktails begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner and awards presentation at 7:30 p.m.

Invitations for the Annual Awards Banquet have been mailed to all Chamber members. Those wishing to make reservations are encouraged to make reservations as soon as possible to guarantee seating.
